Content Display Block

- Content Display Block
PublishPress Blocks has a block to display your latest posts. Several views are available including Grid, List, Slider, Frontpage, Newspaper and Masonry. Some views have its own layouts and settings.
This block was previously called “Recent Posts”.
Content filters include categories, tags, author, number of posts and more. You can decide which elements to display such as published date, updated date, time, authors, categories, tags, read more, excerpt and more.

How to add a Content Display block
You can create one of these blocks by clicking the Content Display button in the PublishPress Blocks category. You can customize the default mountain thumbnail image by going to the PublishPress Blocks Configuration.

The default Content Display view is a grid, but you can change that through the toolbar:

Post Settings
In the right sidebar, you can filter posts through Post Settings:

- Post type: choose between post and page.
- Order by: you have a lot of options to order your posts:

- Number of items
Filters

- Categories
- Tags
- Author
- Exclude these posts
- Exclude current post: if this post is listed in the block, you can exclude it. (Only for Content Display blocks added to post types: post).
Display Settings


- Columns (for Grid view only)
- Display Featured Image
- Show the image for the first posts or for all.
- Display Caption: display image caption.
- Display Post Author
- Display Post Date: choose between published and updated.
- Post Date Format: choose between relative or absolute.
- Display Comment Counts
- Display Category: choose to display as links or plain text
- Display Tags: choose to display as links or plain text
- Display Read More Link
- Read more text: customize the read more text.
- Display Post Excerpt
- First Post text as Excerpt: if Display Post Excerpt is enabled, display some part of first text found in post as excerpt.
- Text after title: (supports HTML)
- Text before read more: (supports HTML)
Content Display views
Using the the toolbar on top of the block, you can choose between six views:
- Grid
- List
- Slider
- Frontpage
- Newspaper
- Masonry

#1. Grid view
Is the default view. A setting to choose the number of columns will be available through the Display settings.

On the sidebar you have Slider view settings:
- Style: choose between default and headline.

#4. Frontpage view

On the sidebar you have Frontpage view settings:
- Layouts with responsive support.
- Style: choose between default, headline and boxed.
- Space between columns and rows: choose between none, 5px, 10px, 20px, 30px, 40px and 50px.

#5. Newspaper view

On the sidebar you have Newspaper view settings:

#6. Masonry view

On the sidebar you have Masonry view settings:
- Space between columns and rows: choose between none, 5px, 10px, 20px, 30px, 40px and 50px.

In addition, in Display settings panel you have two extra options to choose the number of columns in tablet and mobile:

PublishPress Authors support
The Content Display block supports PublishPress Authors. This means you can filter by authors managed through this plugin and display more than one author.
