With the PublishPress Checklists plugin, you can require that permalinks for your WordPress content only use certain characters (A to Z, 0 to 9, or -
and _
).
If the permalink contains invalid characters, you can choose to show a warning, or prevent the post from being published.
This restriction is because unusual characters in the permalink can cause issues.
How to use the “Characters in permalink” task #
- Go to Checklists > Settings. The image below shows the permalink option.
- You can choose from “Disabled, Recommended, or Required” options.
- You can choose “Who can ignore this task?“

If you enable this permalink option, it will be visible when you edit content.
If your permalink does not have the correct characters, this task will be marked in red in the sidebar:

If your permalink does have the correct characters, this task will be marked in green in the sidebar:
