PublishPress Permissions is our plugin for advanced WordPress permissions. It goes far beyond the options you'll find in the WordPress core.
There are too many features to mention in a short introduction, but here's one example: PublishPress Permissions allows you to customize viewing and editing access for all your content. Open any Post, Page or custom post type, and you'll be able to decide which roles, users or custom groups can view and edit that content.

PublishPress Permissions Pro allows you to display a teaser for unreadable content. This is perfect for making small snippets of your content available to the public.
This Pro feature allows you to automatically create content for your users. For example, you can sync your staff members to Pages. This would allow your staff to each have their own page to edit and update.
WordPress provides some status options including “Draft” and “Published”. Permissions Pro enables you to design a far more advanced workflow. Each status you create can have its unique own permissions.
With PublishPress Permissions Pro, you can create visibility options for your content. One example is a “Premium” status that makes content visible only for paying members. Another example is a “Staff” status, for the people who run your site.
If you buy Permissions Pro, you'll get more features, plus fast and advanced technical support.

PublishPress has been a god sent plugin for us. The Premium plugins are worth every penny.
This plugin meets the needs of my project very well. Providing editorial comments for submitted assessments, and a notification system to send emails to both the author and any assigned roles (or individuals) upon content being submitted for approval. This is extended by the easy to use status system, that integrates well into WordPress core, allowing us to create custom statuses and notifications for each. I ran into an issue with notifications not sending to roles and contacted the dev. Their support was amazing! They sent me a working fix for the issue within 12 hours of contacting them!
