What’s new in PublishPress Authors 3.6
PublishPress Authors is the best plugin for adding many authors to one WordPress post. You can create multiple authors, co-authors and guest authors.
There's new update available for both the Free and Pro versions.
Authors 3.6.0 has a mix of new features and bug-fixes. You can now use the “Quick Edit” feature to select authors. Plus there are improvements to plugin's permissions, migrations, and speed.
Let me give you a rundown of what's new in this release …
Integration with Quick Edit
- On the main “Posts” or “Pages” screen, click the “Quick Edit” link under a title:

- When the “Quick Edit” screen is open, you can now choose the Authors for the post:

More permissions
There is a new permission which allows you to control who change the authors of a post:
ppma_edit_post_authors
The easiest way to control this permission is with the PublishPress Capabilities plugin. The image below shows the permissions for PublishPress Authors Pro. Click here for full details on Authors permissions.

If a user does NOT have this new permission, they will not see the “Authors” box when they're editing posts.

Co-Authors Plus migration improvements
If you install PublishPress Authors after using Co-Authors Plus, you'll now see this message with guidelines on how to run the migration. This is the article with the full import details.

Performance optimization
We found that some users were displaying dozens and dozens of posts on a single page load. This sometimes led to slowness and so we've worked to optimize the performance of the PHP code used to display authors.
Get PublishPress Authors
You can get the Free version of PublishPress Authors from WordPress.org.
The Pro version enables you to add custom fields and build custom layouts for your author profiles. You can get the Pro version as a PublishPress member.
The quick edit for authors is a very much welcomed feature for administrators and staff when handling many request for additional authors. Faster performance is always an appreciated cherry on top.
Great, thanks Josh. The Quick Edit integration was harder than we anticipated – I hope it works well.
