PublishPress Shortlinks v1.10: Better Scheduling Controls and Accessibility Improvements

PublishPress Shortlinks v1.10 makes shortlink timing easier to manage and the admin experience easier to use. The headline change is a new “Scheduling” tab that brings activation and expiration settings together in one clearer place, so you can prepare shortlinks ahead of time and control when they should start or stop working.

This release also includes a large set of accessibility improvements across the WordPress admin screens. These changes make PublishPress Shortlinks more usable with keyboards and assistive technology, while also improving contrast, form labels, tab behavior, QR code handling, and live status updates.

Feature highlights

To use the new timing controls, edit a shortlink and open the Scheduling tab. From there, enable activation if you want a link to become available later, or enable expiration if you want it to stop working after a set time.

  • New Scheduling tab: Activation and expiration settings now live in their own tab, so you can manage timing without digging through security settings.

  • Activation toggle: This new feature is also in the “Scheduling” tab. You can now enable scheduled activation for an individual shortlink when you want a link to start working at a specific time.

  • Improved import and export tabs: The Import and Export screen now supports proper tab relationships and keyboard navigation with Arrow, Home, End, Enter, and Space keys.
  • Better status announcements: Analytics changes, import progress, previews, and results are now announced more clearly to assistive technology.
  • QR code accessibility: Generated QR codes now have accessible names, and the download link is only keyboard focusable when a file is ready.
  • Higher contrast: Several admin descriptions, navigation labels, footer text, empty states, and drag handles now use more readable colors.

  • Settings polish: Extra spacing in settings rows has been removed, and a sidebar header overlap issue has been fixed.

  • Import validation: CSV import upload checks have been strengthened.
  • Administrative hardening: Privileged write handling in the underlying WPDK components has been tightened.
