Block Access Allows You to Control Blocks for User Roles

“Block Access” is one of the most popular features in the PublishPress Blocks plugin. This feature allows you to control which blocks are available to different user roles.

For example, if you want to prevent some user roles from adding “Table” blocks, you can block them from doing that with this feature.

In version 2.10 of Blocks, we've simplified the “Block Access” feature. The system is now based on user roles and is very similar to the PublishPress Capabilities plugin.

  • To get started, go to “Blocks”, then “Block Access”.
  • In the top-left corner, you can choose the user role you want to edit.

How to Create a Product Editor for WooCommerce

This week, a PublishPress customer asked us about an interesting configuration for their WordPress site.

The customer wanted to create a “Product Editor” role. Any users in this role would be responsible for editing all the WooCommerce products. We've explained this “Product Editor” role in another guide.

However, the customer had an extra request. They import all their products into the “Uncategorized” category where the “Product Editor” can go to work. Once they have finished editing, they change the category to “Approved”. At this point, their work is over and they can no longer see the product.

In the last few days, there have been two big milestones for the plugin:

  1. Capabilities now has over 100,000 active installs of the Free version, according to WordPress.org.
  2. We released Capabilities 2.0 with lots of new features for Free and Pro users.

How to Control Access to the Theme Editor in WordPress

PublishPress 1.17 is Available With New Features and Fixes

Over the last few weeks, we've been working hard on PublishPress compatibility with Gutenberg.
