PublishPress Revisions 4.0.2: Visual Compare Sidebar: Status, Actions, and Safeguards
PublishPress Revisions 4.0.2 makes visual revisions more informative and easier to act on. This builds on the excellent new Visual Revisions feature in WordPress.
When you review a revision, the sidebar now gives you more context about the post, clearer action buttons, and quicker access to related comparison and settings screens.

Feature highlights
- More context in Visual Compare: The sidebar now displays the status of the current post while you review revisions. You will now also see links to the classic comparison screen and plugin settings.

- Clearer history for Past Revisions: The sidebar can show the approver and publication method for Past Revisions. Plus, Past Revisions now use โRestoreโ and Scheduled Revisions now use โPublishโ to better match the action being taken.

Other improvements and fixes
- Page builder safeguard: Visual Compare is disabled when a page builder plugin is active to avoid unreliable comparison behavior.
- Security hardening: The release includes PHPCS compliance work and internal hardening for safer code handling.
- Cleaner comparison logic: Revision comparison query arguments and permission checks have been simplified and clarified.
- Translation fixes: Several Visual Compare strings that were not translated correctly have been fixed.
- Unsubmitted Revision navigation: Other Unsubmitted Revisions for the same post are now available in the Visual Compare slider.
- Approval screen behavior: The Approve button now remains available after approving a revision on the Compare Revisions screen.
- Scheduled Revision labeling: The current post date is no longer incorrectly labeled as โScheduledโ during Scheduled Revision comparisons.
If you use PublishPress Revisions to review editorial changes before publication, this is a practical update that should make revision review clearer, safer, and less confusing for editors and approvers.
