This post is about a release of the PublishPress Planner plugin. This plugin has all the tools you need to organize your WordPress content, including a post planning calendar, Kanban Board, editorial notifications, and more.
PublishPress Planner v4.8.0 focuses on making editorial planning work better for multilingual teams. This release also includes security focused dependency updates and a useful set of admin, Calendar, notification, permalink, and permissions fixes.

Feature highlights
The biggest user facing improvement is broader language coverage. If your site runs WordPress in a supported locale, Planner should now have more interface text ready for translation and better consistency across screens.
- Expanded language support: The translation system now integrates more fully with language tooling, supporting up to 34 languages.
- Updated major translations: French, Spanish, and Italian translations have been refreshed, with additional missing strings corrected.
- Better translation coverage: Text domains were added and corrected across multiple components, so translation tools can detect more strings reliably.
- Locale configuration support: Sites and translation workflows that use LANG_LOCALES now have dedicated support in the plugin translation settings.
Admin and workflow fixes
Planner 4.8.0 also cleans up several issues that could interrupt day to day editorial work.
- Settings stability: A fatal error caused by invalid method calls in settings has been fixed.
- Async notifications: The notification function now fails gracefully if it is called without the required information.
- Calendar dropdowns: Modal dropdowns now work properly in the Calendar and other Planner screens.
- Permalinks: A duplicate HTTP protocol issue in permalinks has been resolved.
- Publish time display: Scheduled and published statuses now appear correctly in more configurations, including sites using the Statuses plugin.
- Permissions: The “Save Changes” button is no longer shown to users who do not have permission to save those settings.
- Admin performance: Planner CSS now loads only on the plugin’s own admin pages, reducing unnecessary overhead elsewhere in WordPress.
- Plugin labeling: The Plugins screen now identifies this edition with a “Free” label, making it easier to distinguish from other PublishPress products.
Other maintenance and security updates
This release updates Webpack, lodash, DOMPurify, minimatch, picomatch, and other dependencies for security and compatibility. Because v4.8.0 includes security focused maintenance as well as bug fixes, site owners should plan to update promptly after testing on a staging site.
Developer improvements
- Build scripts: Composer build scripts were refactored and simplified for easier maintenance.
- Tooling checks: Dependency version checks for development tools were improved.
- Automation: Development environment and CI/CD workflows were updated for more reliable builds and releases.
- Code quality: Multiple modules received formatting, maintainability, and status handling improvements.
