The PressPermit plugin is now called PublishPress Permissions

The PressPermit plugin has a new name: “PublishPress Permissions”.

The “PressPermit” name has been around for over 10 years, and we're sorry to see it go. However, we hope the new name will fit in better with the other plugins here at PublishPress.

One of our main goals on our 2019 roadmap was to re-brand our plugins. The aim was to create a product line up that’s consistent and easy to understand.

This image shows the new names for the 6 PublishPress plugins:

Each plugin has a Free and Pro version:

  • Every Free version will be on WordPress.org.
  • Every Pro version will be behind the paywall for PublishPress members.

Thanks for using PublishPress

We also recently changed the name of Capability Manager Enhanced to PublishPress Capabilities.

We hope these name changes are more helpful than confusing. We truly believe the changes we're making will create a suite of powerful publishing plugins for WordPress.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments or email us.

  1. Some people throw the name “Pro” around as a marketing gimmick. PublishPress is the real deal in terms of providing a professional services for amazing plugins. Plugin has a conflict with another plugin? PublishPress has your back. They have gone above and beyond in terms of assuring me that they will not only make their products fully functional and bug free, but continue pouring out exciting innovations. Support is top notch. It’s obvious they care greatly about producing the perfect result.

  2. Thanks so much for the kind words, and all your feedbak, Josh

I had a discussion today with another WordPress developer. It made me realize that we hadn’t quite explained why we made this Free/Pro choice. I’m going to write up the thinking behind this.
