PublishPress Series 3.1.4: New Series Blocks for the Block Editor

PublishPress Series 3.1.4 gives you new ways to display series content directly in the WordPress block editor. This release adds Gutenberg blocks for Series lists, post list boxes, post details, and post navigation, making it easier to build series pages and post layouts without relying only on older settings screens or widgets.

New block editor features

The biggest change in this update is the addition of dedicated Series blocks. These give editors and site owners more control when building pages, posts, and templates that highlight connected content.

  • Series List block: Display individual Series or Series Categories with controls for ordering, grid or list layout, featured images, descriptions, and counts.
  • Post List Box block: Add a list of posts from a series directly inside the block editor.
  • Post Details block: Show useful series related post information in a block based layout.
  • Post Navigation block: Help readers move through a series with navigation added from the editor.

To use the new blocks, open the block inserter in the WordPress editor and search for the PublishPress Series blocks you want to add. The release also improves how previews and layout assets behave, including when Series Pro is active.

Accessibility, safety, and reliability updates

This release includes a broad set of accessibility improvements across the Series admin screens. Form labels, radio groups, tab interfaces, tooltips, dynamic update messages, image alternatives, dialog text, and text contrast have all been improved for keyboard users and people using assistive technologies.

  • Better admin navigation: Settings and layout tabs now use clearer tab behavior with keyboard support for arrow keys, Home, and End.
  • More accessible help text: Tooltips are now easier to reach and understand from the keyboard and assistive technology.
  • Clearer dynamic feedback: Successful and failed Series additions are now announced more reliably in the admin area.
  • Stronger request handling: Series management, layout, upgrade, and sorting requests now require authorization and validated input.
  • Cleaner permissions: Series wide publish controls are hidden from users who are not authorized to use them.

Bug fixes

PublishPress Series 3.1.4 also fixes several issues that affected ordering, previews, and admin layouts.

  • Series ordering: New published and private posts now receive the correct Series order.
  • Post List Box previews: Preview order and layout editor tabs now behave correctly.
  • Publish screen layout: The footer layout on the Publish or schedule posts screen has been corrected.
