# Scheduled / Future

## What is the Scheduled / Future status in WordPress?

“Scheduled” is one of the [eight default post statuses](https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/default-statuses-wordpress/) available in WordPress. It is possible to [create new WordPress statuses](https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/new-wordpress-statuses/) if you require more options.

Inside the code this status is referred to as "Future", but in the WordPress admin area you'll see it referred to as "Scheduled".

A post in the Scheduled status is not published yet, but is scheduled to be published in a future date.

- To use the Scheduled status, look for the "Publish" box when you're editing a post.
- Click the "Immediately" link as shown in this screenshot:

- Choose a date that is ahead of today's date:

Future Publish 1

- You'll see that the "Publish" button has now changed to "Schedule":

It is also possible to use the [PublishPress Planner](https://publishpress.com/links/planner) plugin to see your scheduled posts. On the "[Content Calendar](https://publishpress.com/links/content-calendar)" screen you can see the Scheduled posts that are due to be published.

## Which users can access Posts in the Scheduled status?

By default, any user that can create content can see Posts in the Future / Scheduled status. This means that [Contributors](https://publishpress.com/links/contributor), [Authors](https://publishpress.com/links/author), [Editors](https://publishpress.com/links/editor) and [Administrators](https://publishpress.com/links/administrator) can all move posts to the Future status.

Users in the [Subscriber](https://publishpress.com/links/subscriber) role have no access to the “Posts” screen so can not see these posts.
