## What is the export permission in WordPress?

The export permission allows users to export all the content and media from a WordPress site.

This permission will not work unless you also have the [import](https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/import/) permission.

If you have both the export and import permissions, you will be able to go to "Tools" and then "Export". From here, you can choose content and click "Download Export File".

## Who has the export permission?

The export permission is available on single WordPress sites and on multisite networks.

By default, the export permission is only given to [Super Admins](https://publishpress.com/links/super-admin) and Administrators.

Users not in these roles are not allowed to export site data.
